I’m thrilled to share my first ever youtube video with you today! It’s a vlog that I filmed the week before Christmas, sharing how I prepared for the holidays, some gift ideas, how we celebrated, and just general vlog stuff. Making youtube videos has been a dream of mine for years!
I knew I wanted to do it, but I didn’t know the how. I fell in love with the vlog format, and finally decided to just go for it.
I’m very nervous to be posting this because…my personality is, let’s say, leaning towards shy. It’s easy for me to hide behind my blog and social media posts. That’s comfortable. And I love blogging! But it doesn’t really convey my whole personality, my quirkiness, my humanness, … The truth is – I’m a weirdo! And even though it scares me, I want to let you in on the secret of Elisa. Showing you things I haven’t shown before. My face, my voice, my day to day life, … All in the hopes of inspiring and entertaining you.
I can’t express how vulnerable I feel sharing this. Some of you might not understand what the big deal is, but I’m sure a lot of you do. I decided to go for it though because I wanted to have a deeper connection with you, and I figured I’d have to take the first step. I can’t expect you to show me who you really are, if I’m not showing you my true self.
With that said I want to make it clear that this video and the videos to come are not about me, but about us. I don’t want this youtube journey to just be about me. I want to talk to you! I’m doing this to start a conversation and build a real connection with you. So since I’m taking this step out of my shell and out of my comfort zone, I’m asking you to come one step closer too. Leave comments on my blog or directly on youtube, or if that’s too public for you, send me an email. But honestly, I don’t want my platform to just be one long monologue. I want there to be a conversation!
It’s not about me; it’s about us. This community of likeminded people. This pride of lions.
And I get it. I’m a shy and private person myself, so it makes sense that I attract shy people too. But I took this big step out of my comfort zone, so we could have more of a heart-to-heart connection…so I’m asking you to come out of your shell too.
If you’re anything like me, part of you really really wants to do that. Even though it feels scary, you also really WANT to break free of your own confinement and let the world hear your roar!
Now is the time! I took the first step so it would be easier for you to follow. And I’m telling you, since publishing this first video a couple of days ago, I’ve already felt a big weight lifting off my shoulders.
When the time is on you, start and the pressure will be off.
This is so true. I’m speaking from personal experience here. Whenever I took another step out of my comfort zone, in the moment it felt so incredibly vulnerable, but once I did it, it felt almost like a sigh of relief.
If after watching this video you decide that this type of content isn’t for you, that’s perfectly fine. I will continue writing blog posts too, so don’t worry. But this is something that had been gestating in me for a long time, and it had to finally come forth.
If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.
― Gospel of Thomas
This starts a new chapter so I want to hear your feedback because I want to be creating content you love. I’m also trying to figure out my posting schedule for the blog and youtube and for my newsletter. As you know, I publish new blog posts on Tuesdays, but I think if I’m publishing new videos weekly, I’d prefer posting them on Saturdays… With all of these decisions, your feedback is invaluable! Doesn’t have to be eloquent – just let me know. Because as a member of this community, your voice deserves to be heard just as much as anyone else’s.
Alright, alright, I’ll stop babbling. Just watch the video. And please subscribe to my youtube channel. That would mean the world to me!
And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
Thank you so much for being here! I’m thrilled to embark on this new journey with you!
