Last Saturday I woke up with Friday’s to-do list still on my mind. Even though it was the weekend, I was still so focused on all the things I had to “get done” and I felt stressed out. The one thing I really wanted to do was to go the gym and have a nice workout, because I spent the two days before that on my computer barely moving at all. My mind was begging for a break while my body was longing for movement. But how could I fit it in and still get everything done?
The funny thing is, I kept saying I wanted the day to be about family time and enjoying being with loved ones, but at the same time I kept stressing about my schedule. Then something wonderful happened. I loosened my tight grip on “the schedule” and just spent an hour singing (because I love singing) and it put me in the best mood! My focus shifted and I realized, “It’s the weekend! Why am I so stressed?” I took a deep breath, regrouped, and consciously changed my priority from “get things done” to “have fun and enjoy life” because number one, it’s the weekend, and number two, yes, I have responsibilities, we all do, but let’s be real, I don’t have children so at this point in my life I’m really only responsible for myself and for my own well-being. So why make my life so much harder for myself? And hey, as I said last week, I am only here to be truly helpful. And in order to be truly helpful I have to take excellent care of myself and make sure I’m as happy, healthy and vibrant as possible. So I asked myself what I really wanted to do that day. The answer? Have a good sweat session in the gym.
So I went, and already on my way there I could feel the stress melting away, and I could feel myself relaxing and calming down. I felt like I was floating on air and I decided to stop worrying about how the rest of the day was going to pan out and instead just BE HERE NOW. I decided that I wasn’t going to rush through my workout, but instead ENJOY it and just take the day one step at a time. I decided to BE PRESENT here and now and to allow the rest of the day to unfold however it may unfold.
And I’m telling you, the energy in the gym was so calm and peaceful that day. Just a couple of days earlier it was pure madness, but on that day it was like an oasis of serenity. And I realized, on both days the energy in the gym reflected my own energy. One day I was stressed and overwhelmed, so the gym was stressed and overwhelmed. The other day I was calm and peaceful, so the gym reflected those energies back to me.
This is a great example of how powerful we are, how powerful our minds are, and how we can positively impact our surroundings. So often we’re wondering how we can make a difference when the truth is, we ARE making a difference every single day. The question is, what energy are you putting out into the world? On days when you’re stressed, overwhelmed and worried, you’re making the world a more stressed and overwhelming place. On days when you’re calm, happy and at peace, you’re making the world a more calm, happy and peaceful place.
Don’t think that you can’t make a difference, because the truth is, you ARE making a difference whether you realize it or not. We have to be conscious of the energy we’re putting out there. Now more than ever the world seems like such a fragile place. It seems to collapse beneath the heavy burden of all the negativity we’re collectively putting out there. We should take responsibility and be more conscious and diligent about exuding good vibes and bringing them with us everywhere we’re going.
He does not have to fight to save himself. He does not have to kill the dragons which he thought pursued him. Nor need he erect the heavy walls of stone and iron doors he thought would make him safe. He can remove the ponderous and useless armor made to chain his mind to fear and misery. His step is light, and as he lifts his foot to stride ahead a star is left behind, to point the way to those who follow him.

You ARE making a difference every day of your life. You ARE that powerful. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. When a butterfly flaps its wings in South America, it affects the wind patterns around the north pole. If a butterfly has that much impact, imagine what you can do! The tiniest pebble creates a ripple that stretches over the entire sea. In the same way, you, your being and your energy will affect places and people you will never even know of. And my favorite metaphor for how powerful we are:
Don’t let anyone tell you you’re too
young, too small or too insignificant to
make a difference. A baby shark, is still a
And so are you. Strong, powerful and brimming with potential for great change and impact. Always remember that whether you realize it or not, you ARE making a difference every day of your life. So be conscious about the energy you’re putting out there. If you want a more peaceful planet, you have to be more peaceful yourself. It starts with you. World peace happens one person at a time. When you are more peaceful, the world is more peaceful. The world is a mirror of our mind – not the other way around.
So make a conscious effort to first of all ground yourself in positive energy before you even start your day (meditation, prayer, reading uplifting literature, listening to a positive playlist,…), and then actively BRING those positive vibes with you everywhere you’re going. Send them before you even. Silently bless every room you enter and every person you meet. Leave a positive vibration imprint everywhere you’re going.
How holy are our minds! And everything we see reflects the holiness within the mind at one with God and with itself. How easily do errors disappear, and death give place to everlasting life. Our shining footprints point the way to truth, for God is our Companion as we walk the world a little while. And those who come to follow us will recognize the way because the light we carry stays behind, yet still remains with us as we walk on.
