As you know, I talk a lot about intuition, and I encourage everyone to follow their intuition. One fear that keeps coming up though is that people seem to think that intuition and intellect are mutually exclusive. So the way they see it, they can either make a smart choice, or follow their intuition. That is not the case my loves. When I encourage you to follow your intuition, I encourage you to be smart! When I encourage you to follow your intuition, I do so because I want you to AVOID making stupid mistakes.
I see this a lot. People are afraid that spirituality will destroy their brain cells. People think that following your intuition will make you stupid. People seem to think that there’s either intuition or intellect. But in reality, the two go hand in hand. Your intuition is your innate wisdom that you were born with. And your intellect is the wisdom you collected throughout your lifetime from different sources and experiences. Either way, it’s all about being smart! That’s the bottom line.
Your intuition is your innate wisdom that you were born with. And your intellect is the wisdom you collected throughout your lifetime.
And you’ve probably collected a ton of proof over the years that your intuition is always right. We’ve all had experiences where we were faced with a choice. One option seemed logical and rational, and when we asked other people they usually agreed that it was indeed the logical thing to do, but it felt kinda icky. And then we also had another idea for an option that might not have seemed as rational, but that felt like the right thing to do. Unfortunately, we let the voice of other people telling us to do the rational thing, drown out the voice of our intuition, and it ended up blowing up in our face. And THEN, afterwards it became clear that our intuitive idea would have led to the best outcome for everyone involved. The most painful part about all of it? We knew better! We knew it, but we didn’t act on it, because in the moment, it didn’t seem as clear-cut logical as the other option. Other times we DO listen to our intuition and it turns out beautifully, and everyone’s happy! So there’s your proof. Your intuition is always right. It may not necessarily make sense in the moment, but looking back you will be able to connect the dots, and you’ll be so glad you took that leap of faith. So when you have proof that your intuition is always right, and you do have that proof, wouldn’t it be stupid to ignore those facts? Wouldn’t it be much smarter to follow the voice that has been leading you in the right direction all your life?
You’ve probably heard the phrase “the answer is inside of you” a bunch of times before. And it’s true. But a lot of people seem to think that means you have to have it all figured out, and you have to be able to see and know every step ahead. And then they get upset, because in that moment, when we go within and ask ourselves what to do or what the solution is, often we don’t know. We don’t know how it could turn out, and we don’t know what solution will bring about the happy outcome. So when it comes to solving anything, whether big or small – yes, the answer is inside of you, and yes, you should follow your intuition – BUT your intuition gives you guidance in small, incremental steps. And it’s only ever about taking that one small step. Only AFTER you’ve done that, are you asked to take another step. It’s not like you have to see it all the way through and know every single step you need to take from here to your desired goal. It’s just one small step. And you’re meant to take life one step at a time. No one’s asking you to figure out your entire life in one minute or in one day. But step by step.
And when I say that sometimes your inner guidance doesn’t seem to make any sense, or doesn’t seem to address the problem at hand, that’s what I mean. Because your intuition is not showing you step #958 right now, it’s not showing you all the steps in advance, it’s not showing you the final step. It’s only ever showing you the very next step. Why? Because otherwise it would be totally overwhelming! Life is much kinder. It’s about being present, here and now, and only taking that ONE step right now.
So for example, your prayer might be for help with figuring out how to have healthy relationships. And you’d probably expect an answer or an intuitive hit that is directly related to relationships. But more often than not, that’s not the case. Your first intuitive hit might be to take a yoga class, or to read a certain book, or to start eating healthier, or to get a coach, or to declutter your home. It could be anything! Because God can see the entire path ahead, He knows every little step you need to take in order to get to your desired goal. And even though it might not make sense to you in this moment, it will all make sense looking back on it.
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.”
But if you don’t even take that first step because, “What does decluttering my closet have to do with finding a romantic partner?” then you won’t get there. You only receive guidance for step #2 after completing step #1. And your intuition WILL continue reminding you of that first step as long as it takes. That’s one of the characteristics of divine guidance – it’s repetitive. It will keep coming up until you finally take that action. But of course, the quicker you follow through on your inner guidance, the quicker you will move forward. So it’s not like a big, complicated issue you have to solve, it’s not like you have to have all the answers, or have it all figured out. It’s just about taking that one step in this present moment. It’s about taking life one day at a time.
So, after reading all this,
what’s one thing, one idea, one intuitive hit that keeps coming up for you, that you keep thinking about?
What’s one action you’ve been thinking about taking for a while, but haven’t gone through with yet?
Tell me in the comment section.
“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
Remember, intuition and intellect go hand in hand. It’s about being smart, it’s about making wise decisions, and it’s about avoiding unnecessary drama and heartache. Learn from your experience, make changes accordingly, follow your intuition, and take life one step at a time. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask me any open questions you might have.
