Over the last couple of weeks we talked a lot about God (even more than we usually do) and the world, and we’ve been having some rather metaphysical conversations. We went deep. That’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it is mine, and it seems to be yours too because I actually created these articles as a response to your questions, and I’ve been getting really positive feedback from you guys. One open question from last week’s post concerns my statement that God wanted you to stay in Heaven, but you left, so He went with you. Some of you might be wondering when and how you were leaving, if that’s a metaphor or if I’m speaking literally. So those are the questions I want to address today.
This is again, a very metaphysical conversation. You could discuss it on different levels. One of them being that God wanted you to have happy thoughts, but you chose fear instead. You could say that. But on a higher level it comes back to what I said last week. This world is like a dream. It’s not ultimate reality. Heaven is God’s creation. It is real. And obviously you, the individual, didn’t personally leave one place and go to another. But metaphysically speaking, humanity is one. There is God, there is the Holy Spirit (our communication link to God that He created after we “left” so we could find our way “back”), and the Son of God (also called The Christ), which is all of us. There’s only one begotten Son means – we’re all it. In this world we appear as separate people, and that’s part of the insanity of this world, and something that causes us a lot of pain while here on earth. But speaking on a higher level, there is God, and then there is “God’s Son”, which is an extension of God just as a sunbeam as an extension of the sun. Meaning, they’re one. And they’re in, what we call, heaven. Always have been, always will be. And it’s like the Son part had a thought like, “What if I weren’t one with God? What if I did my own thing?” And the result of that thought is the world we find ourselves in. A world where everything and everyone is separate from each other. It’s not real. It’s like a dream (and A Course in Miracles actually calls it a dream). In truth, we’re still in heaven, one with God and one with each other. But it’s like the Son of God had a little daydream that didn’t last longer than a second. It didn’t have any effect on reality at all. And our experience as human beings, what we call life, is really more like watching a movie. It’s already in the past. And we’re just reviewing that dream. A Course in Miracles says,
For we but see the journey from the point at which it ended, looking back on it, imagining we make it once again; reviewing mentally what has gone by.
This is a very difficult topic to discuss, because it goes against the very core of our belief system. It “shakes things up” so to speak. That’s why a lot of people don’t go there. And you don’t have to go there if you don’t want to. But some questions can only be answered from that metaphysical level. So you either allow your belief systems to be shaken up, or you accept that you won’t get an answer to certain questions.
If God Himself were to acknowledge anything except the idea of perfect oneness, then there would no longer be perfect oneness. There would no longer be a perfect state of Heaven for you to return to. As we will see, you never really left anyway. You’re still there, but you have entered into a nightmare state of illusion. While you have traveled only in dreams, God and Christ, Who are always One, have continued as they always did and always will — completely unaffected by what J refers to in his Course as the “tiny, mad idea…” of separation.
–The Disappearance Of The Universe
This references the line from A Course in Miracles where it says,
Into eternity, where all is one, there crept a tiny, mad idea, at which the Son of God remembered not to laugh.
If you like these conversations from the last couple of weeks, you will love The Disappearance Of The Universe, because it talks about all of these things and more in a very down to earth, easy to understand way. It definitely helped me a lot when I first started getting into A Course in Miracles. As I said, it is very meta. Not a lot of people talk about things from that level. Not a lot of people even THINK from that level. And if you don’t want to, that’s fine. It’s your choice. But certain questions can only be answered on that level. So you either go up there, or you accept not getting an answer.
So I hope this answered some of your open questions, and don’t hesitate to ask me anything else you’d like to know. Next week we’re gonna talk about divine support and in what ways God can help us to navigate everyday life.
